Brussels Chamber Orchestra
In 1999, the passionate alliance and commitment of young virtuosos to chamber music gave birth to the Brussels Chamber Orchestra (BCO). The BCO, a true cultural melting pot made up of musicians from six different nationalities, has become an exceptional artistic and cultural laboratory, located in the heart of Europe. Each interpretation is enriched by this fusion of Asian and European cultures, thus infusing each work with a new dynamic and a singular freshness. This search gives the group a unique sound.
This talent has attracted renowned musicians, who have shared the stage with the BCO, such as the violinists Ivry Gitlis, Gilles Apap, Igor Oistrakh, Maxim Vengerov, Dora Schwarzberg, Janine Jansen, Sergey Krylov, Pierre Amoyal, Lorenzo Gatto, Michael Guttman, Erasmo Capilla, the pianists Boris Berezovsky, Eliane Rodrigues, Plamena Mangova, cellists Tatiana Vasilyeva, David Geringas, Claudio Bohorquez, Justus Grimm, Gavriel Lipkind, the clarinetists Richard Stolzman, Walter Boeykens, as well as singer Daniele De Niese.
The BCO's repertoire embraces a wide range of composers, from Vivaldi to Britten, including Mozart, Elgar, Bartók, Piazzolla, Hindemith and Schoenberg. The greatest strength and uniqueness of this ensemble lies in its ability to perform without a conductor, which has forged unparalleled cohesion and creativity, particularly felt when performing pieces such as Schoenberg's "Verklärte Nacht." and Bartók's Divertimento.
The orchestra also explores other musical genres, such as Flamenco with Amparo Cortes, Jazz with Michel Bisceglia and the ''Pierre Anckaert Quintet'', Jewish folklore with ''Kletzstory'', Chinese folklore with Georg Gao , virtuoso of Ehru, as well as French song with Maurane. These eclectic experiences enrich the orchestra's ability to invest in multicultural projects, during its tours in Japan, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, Mexico and the United States.
In addition, the Brussels Chamber Orchestra is actively engaged in the creation of educational projects and has the honor of being“ Artistic ambassador” of the Yehudi Menuhin International Foundation.
